Best Time To Visit ladakh
Well, you can visit Ladakh throughout the year by flight because in Leh, the capital city of Ladakh, you will find Leh Airport from which you can take a direct flight from Delhi to Leh throughout the year. However, Ladakh is one of those places which is covered with snow for six to seven months of the year, so the best time to visit Ladakh is during the summer season, in which the Ladakh season starts from May to September.
Transportation
You can reach Ladakh in two ways, first is by plane and second is by road. If you want to go by plane, you will have to take a flight to Leh Airport which is about 4km away from the city. Leh Airport of Ladakh is considered to be the highest commercial airport in the world and the name of this airport is Kushok Bakula Rinpoche Airport. You can get a flight to Leh from Delhi for approximately Rs.10,000.
You cannot go to Ladakh by train because there is no railway station in Ladakh. The nearest railway station to Ladakh is Jammu Railway Station which is about 700 km away from Ladakh. Now the second way to go to Ladakh is to go by road. You can also reach Ladakh by catching a bus from the road. A new bus service has started from Delhi to Ladakh which is considered to be the longest bus service in India.
It can take you almost 24 hours to reach Ladakh from Delhi by bus and you will get this bus from Delhi’s bus stand Kashmiri Gate ISBT. You can get a direct bus from Delhi to Ladakh which travels about 1100 km, the ticket for this bus will cost you about 1350 rupees and this bus service starts in June for Ladakh.
Where to stay ?
After reaching Leh, first of all you can take a hotel or hostel, if you want to stay in a nominal budget then hostel or homestay is the better option which you will get between 500 to 1200 rupees and you will get hotel between 100 to 2500.
Best places to visit
To visit Ladakh, you can rent a bike which will cost you Rs. 1000 to 1500 for 24 hours or you can take a taxi which will charge at the destination.
1. Pangong Lake
Pangong Lake is one of the most beautiful places in Leh Ladakh and the famous movie 3 idiots has also been shot here, this thing makes this lake more special. You can plan a one night stay at Pangong Lake as you will also get many camping options here.
2. Khardung La Pass
Khardung La Pass is the second highest motorable road in the world. The distance from Leh town to Khardung La Pass is around 38 km and this journey itself is very beautiful and full of adventure. If you are travelling here in summer, then even at that time you will get to see five to six feet high snow-covered mountains at Khardung La Pass, which is a wonderful experience at that time.
3. Diskit monastery
Diskit monastery is located in Diskit village of Nubra district and its most special feature is that here you will get to see the 32 meter high statue of Maitray Buddha and from this place you will get to see a very spectacular view of the entire Nubra valley.
4. Zanskar valley
The Zanskar Mountains are spread over 7000 sq km, a secluded place in the Himalayas. Rafting is popular on the rivers leading to the Zanskar River. The famous Chadar Trek crosses the frozen river, which is done in November for safety. During this time many adventure lovers go together in groups.
5. Leh Palace
Leh Palace is a historical building of Ladakh with many floors. You can go to its top and get a wonderful view of the entire Leh city and the mountains. People like to come here because the view here is very good.
